DU students form human chain demanding proctor’s resignation

The students of Dhaka University (DU) formed a human chain on Monday demanding resignation of the Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani for his 'failure' to ensure security to the teachers and students of the university.

The students under the banner of 'Students against Repression' formed the human chain at the foot of Raju Sculpture around 1:10 pm protesting the attack on DU teachers and quota movement activists, reports UNB.

They also brought out a rally and held a meeting in front of the office of DU proctor around 2 pm.

Megh Mollar, a 3rd year student of Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, said they will submit a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Akhteruzzaman in this regard on Tuesday.

Earlier, in the day, students and teachers of International Relations of Dhaka University formed a human chain on the campus protesting the assault on Associate Professor of the department Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan and two other teachers of the university allegedly by BCL men.

They demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers.

Besides, teachers and students of Economics Department of the university formed another human chain protesting assault on two students by three Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists and demanding safe campus.

Earlier on Saturday evening, some BCL activists beat up two students of Economics Department of Dhaka University in front of Surya Sen Hall.
