The High Court on Tuesday awarded a one-month jail in civil prison for former Proshika chairman Qazi Faruque Ahmed for violating court's directive.

The bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman also directed Qazi Faruque to hand over the office of the Proshika chairman to its incumbent Chairman within 15 days or he will face detention.

According to UNB, in 2009 the HC issued the same directive asking the Qazi Faruque to handover the Non-Government Organisation's office to its incumbent Chairman Advocate MA Wadud, as he (Faruque) was sacked from the organisation on various charges on May 24.

But later, violating the court's directive Qazi Faruque Ahmed occupied the Proshika office in 2012.
