An official of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has sustained stab injuries in an attack by some miscreants at Dhamali Para near the campus.
A group of miscreants swooped the official—Abul Kashem, an instrument engineer officer of SUST Civil and Environment Engineering Department—on way to his home on Wednesday evening and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him injured, SUST sources said.
He was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Kashem said some young people have been demanding extortion from him for last few days. As he refused to pay the extortion, they attacked him, reports UNB.
Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station, said police were in search to arrest the attackers.
