A local Awami League (AL) leader was strangled to death by some miscreants at his house in Barguna’s sadar upazila in the early hours of Saturday.
The victim was 65-year-old senior vice-president of sadar upazila AL Khalilur Rahman Mollah.
At around 2:00 am at Chalitatoli village, some unidentified miscreants, including a woman, entered the Khalilur’s house digging a hole from outside and tied up Khalilur and his wife, said SM Masuduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Policemen later recovered the victim’s body and suspect that he was strangled to death, UNB reported.
The motive behind the murder is yet to be known, meanwhile lawmen detained Khalilur’s wife for interrogation.
