Mob lynches two ‘cattle thieves’ in Rangpur

Two suspected cattle thieves have been killed and another has been wounded in a lynch-mob attack at Madarhat area in Rangpur’s Pirganj upazila on early Monday.

One of the alleged thieves, Raju of Shibganj upazila of Bogra along with his gang, entered in the area around 3:30 am with an aim to steal cows, said Harunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Pirganj Police Station.

Sensing their presence, locals chased the thieves, caught three of them and gave them a good beating .

Police rushed to spot being informed and sent the wounded thieves to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared two of them dead, reports a local news agency.
