Niloufer Manzur recalled

The first death anniversary of renowned educationist and founding principal of Sunbeams School Niloufer Manzur was observed on Wednesday by a host of her friends, relatives, and family members.

She passed away on May 26 last year at the age of 74 while undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.

Late Niloufer was the wife of eminent industrialist and former caretaker government adviser Syed Manzur Elahi.

The educationist was remembered with sorrowing hearts by her well-wishers who prayed for her eternal peace on the day of her demise.

Mrs Manzur, one of the pioneers in English medium education, founded Sunbeams School on January 15, 1974, and played a significant role in the education sector of the country.

She was also the mother of Apex Footwear Ltd  Managing Director Syed Nasim Manzur. She also left behind her daughter Munize Manzur and six grandchildren.

Her family members arranged a doa mahfil to pray for the salvation of her departed soul. Besides, a host of friends, admirers, and students she taught during her long teaching career mourned her demise on the day she left the world.

Mrs Niloufer was the daughter of late Dr Mafiz Ali Chowdhury, a former minister in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's cabinet in 1972.
