The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has set a deadline to complete investigation into the allegations of offshore investments by some Bangladeshi individuals and entities, surfaced in Panama Paper and Paradise Paper leaks.

ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Wednesday directed commission officials to complete the enquiries in this regard by June 30, reports UNB.

He gave the direction during a meeting with the secretary, all director generals, and directors of detective units of the ACC at its head office in Dhaka.

Iqbal Mahmood also ordered to complete all other ongoing investigations within the deadline set by the ACC.

“ACC does not only conduct preventive activities, it is prosecuting agency too. So you will (officials) have to complete all activities by deadline following all legal process,” the Chairman of the Commission said.

Names of many Bangladeshis were found in Panama, Paradise and other leaks on the murky world of illicit offshore finance.

Alongside, US-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) also revealed Bangladeshis’ entities and individuals to its leaks database of Panama Papers.
