Power Division set to initiate EPR system

Power Division has initiated a move to introduce enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to bring all of its officials and that of its subordinate bodies under one platform.

To this end, a Tk 290 million contract was recently signed between the Power Division and Vision Tech, a local firm, to introduce an online system under which the officials will be able to get real-time data and instantly make their decisions on any issue.

Tech Vision made a presentation on the issue on Monday at a function at Biduyt Bhaban in the city, as per a UNB report.

Addressing the function, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said the Power Division has been the first to initiate such a move to digitalise the system.

The function was also addressed by Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and Vision Tech chief Iqbal Habib.

Iqbal Habib, also an architect and environment activist, said once the proposed online system is introduced, every official will have access to the platform and anyone of them can take decisions on any issue seeing the data and records.

He claimed that global software leader Microsoft will work with his company as its associate to provide technical support.

He also said officials will operate the online system from their any digital devices like smartphone, tab, ipad, laptop and personal computer.
