Road, Transport and Bridges Minister and also General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Obaidul Quader underwent a successful bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, a member of the medical board treating Quader, conducted the surgery, said Prof Dr Abu Nasar Rizvi of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
After surgery, the minister was kept at post-operative care, said the BSMMU physician after briefing of DrSivathasan Cumaraswamy on Obaidu lQuader's health condition.
The minister's family members sought blessings from the country's people for Quader's early recovery.
Quader was admitted to BSMMU on March 3 following breathing complications and tests revealed three blockages in his coronary artery.
He was flown to Singapore the next day for treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital, reports UNB.
