The written examination for the special 48th Bangladesh Civil Service, aimed at recruiting doctors, has taken place.

Conducted on Friday in multiple-choice question (MCQ) format, the two-hour, 200-mark exam took place from 10am to 12pm across different centres.

A total of 41,025 candidates applied to sit the exam, according to Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) spokesperson SM Motiur Rahman.

Speaking to bdnews24.com on Friday, Motiur said the results of the written test will be published on Monday, Jul 21.

He was unable to confirm the number of examinees who actually sat the exam or whether any candidates were expelled for malpractice, noting that reports from exam centres were still pending.

Only candidates who pass the written examination will be eligible to attend the 100-mark oral test.

The 48th Special BCS circular was published on May 29, with intention to recruit 3,000 doctors.

Among them, 2,700 will be appointed as assistant surgeons and 300 as assistant dental surgeons.
