Progotishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ), a combine of left-leaning student organisations, called for countrywide strike at educational institutions across the country on January 29 protesting Tuesday’s assault on students by Chhatra League.
Samajtantrik Chhatra Front President Imran Habib Rumon made the announcement of the programme at Modhur Canteen of Dhaka University on Wednesday, a day after the leaders and activists of BCL assaulted the demonstrating students, sources said.
Imran Habib Rumon said: "We have decided to observe the strike in protest against the shameful attack on the students."
He alleged that the members of Chhatra League even attacked Wednesday's peaceful demonstrations of PCJ in several places of the country.
