A Dhaka court put the driver of Suprobhat Paribahan that crushed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury to death, on seven-day remand.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order as Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station Aminul Islam produced the driver Sirajul Islam, 24, before the court and pleaded for 10-day remand.

It was learned that Sirajul was competing with another bus and ran over Abrar on Tuesday (March 19) morning as he was trying to cross the road. The driver was driving the bus with the licence of light vehicles.

Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his helper and owner of the bus last night with Gulshan Police Station.

“We are trying to arrest the bus owner and helper and they would be brought to justice soon,” the OC (operation) Aminul Islam told BSS.
