A Chapainawabganj court has sentenced three people to life term imprisonment for raping a woman at Hossain Dying area in 2015.
The lifers are Sohel Babu; 27, son of Kasimuddin, Dabir Ali; 28, son of Bishu Khalifa and Aminul Islam; 23, son of Faring Biswas, hailing from Chunakhali village in Sadar Upazila.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict on Wednesday.
The court also fined them Tk 100,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment, reports UNB.
According to the prosecution, on 6 June, 2015, the three youths took the woman to a house at Bathanbari making false promise of marriage and violated the woman there.
Later, the victim filed a case against them Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station.
On 30 June, sub-inspector of the police station Dulal Uddin submitted a charge sheet accusing the trio.
