Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Metro Rail Project and Dhaka WASA combinedly formed a committee on Monday aiming to solve the waterlogging problem in the capital’s Rokeya Sarani.
To this end, a meeting among the three organisations was held at a city hotel with DNCC mayor Md Atiqul Islam in the chair.
It is noted that the DNCC handed over the road to the Metro Rail Project on condition that the latter will construct drainage system in the area while conducting the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Atiqul said waterlogging during rainy season creates huge public suffering at the area that must be ended.
He said the Metro Rail Project must take steps to solve the waterlogging at the area immediately. The DNCC is ready to solve the problem if needed.
He also asked the committee to resolve the problem by May ahead of the rainy season.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DNCC Md. Abdul Hai, Dhaka WASA Director AKM Shahid Uddin and Additional Project Director of the Metro Rail Project Md Abdul Baki, among others, were present on the occasion.
