A Cox's Bazar court has awarded two Rohingya youths 10 year jail terms on charges of smuggling Yaba into the district from Myanmar in 2015.

The court also fined the convicts—Amanulla, son of Mohammad Sultan, hailing from Dailpara area in Mangdu state of the country, and Yusup, son of Eunus of the same area, Tk 3,000 each, in default, to suffer three more months in jail.

Joint District and Session's Judge Begum Salma Khatun handed down the verdict on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Quoting the proceedings, Public Prosecutor Adv Abul Hashem said members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained Amanullah and Yusup while they were trying to cross the border along with contraband tablets, and handed them over to Teknaf Police Station.

Later, BGB filed a case with the police station accusing them.
