bKash donates Tk 5.0m for flood-affected people

bKash Limited, the largest mobile financial service provider in the country has donated Tk 5.0 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund for the flood affected people.

Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a simple ceremony at her office recently. Nihad Kabir, a member of bKash Limited’s Board of Directors and Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam (Retired), Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash were present on the occasion.

The proceeds was mobilised though bKash’s own fund as well as donations made by bKash employees, according to a statement.

In response to ongoing devastating flood in the country, bKash sent a 10-member team to some badly affected char areas under Kurigram district and distributed around 30 metric tons of food and emergency reliefs among 2,000 families. The supplies for two weeks per family include rice, lentil, oil, salt, sugar, milk, chili, spices, pure drinking water, biscuits, and emergency medicines, oral saline and water purification tablets. Around 10,000 flood affected people have been benefited from the emergency supplies provided by bKash.
