Police in a special drive arrested 40 people, accused in different cases, from different areas in the district on Tuesday.
The drive was conducted from Monday evening to Tuesday morning, additional police superintendent of Sherpur Sadar Circle Md Aminul Islam, according to a news agency.
The arrestees will be produced before the district court as there are nine cases against them.
