5.7 magnitude quake hits Kadingilan, Philippines

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted four km Northwest of Kadingilan, the Philippines at 4:47pm EST (20:47 GMT) on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

 

The epicentre, with a depth of 31.39 km, was initially determined to be at 7.6285 degrees north latitude and 124.8736 degrees east longitude, reports Xinhua.

 

It said the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was felt strongest in Kalilangan, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City. Phivolcs said it has not received any report of damages.

 

However, it predicted that there might be aftershocks.
