ACC files lawsuit against three over rice embezzlement

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed case against three persons including a food warehouse officer-in-charge in Bogura for embezzling 15,000 kg of government rice.

Wahid Munzur Sohag, a deputy assistant director of the ACC's Bogra integrated district office, lodged the case on Saturday in the same office, according to a statement of the anti-graft watchdog agency released on Sunday.

The accused are Gazi Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sabekpara LSD food warehouse in Gabtali Upazila of the district, Mohammad Sadequl Islam, a night watchman of the same warehouse, and Mohammad Amzad Hossain, a resident of Dhunat upazila in the same district.

The accused in connivance with each other illegally misappropriated 300 sacks or 15,000 kg of government rice from the food warehouse, according to the case statement.

The accused have been arrested, according to the statement.
