BD registers 1,918 new virus cases and 50 deaths in 24 hours

The number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Bangladesh surged to 244,020 on Tuesday as the country registered 1,918 fresh cases testing 7,712 samples in 83 labs in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, fifty more people died from Covid-19 during the period. Among the fatalities, forty four were male and the rest were female, the health directorate said.

With the latest, the death toll from the lethal disease now stands at 3,234.

Nasima Sultana, additional director general (admin) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin.

Besides, the recovery count also reached 139,860 after 1,955 patients were recovered during the period under review.

Globally, 18,456,665 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 697,700 people died as of Tuesday noon, according to the worldometer.

Of them, 6,068,295 are currently being treated with 64,672 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 11,690,670 people have recovered.
