Bangladesh Bank (BB) will release new Taka 50 notes on December 15 in phases.
The new Taka 50 notes will be ‘reddish orange’ in colour. It will bear the picture of Bangabandhu and signature of the governor of central bank Fazle Kabir, said a BB press release on Tuesday.
The new notes are being issued as the existing Taka 50 notes bear slight resemblance with the curent Taka 10 notes, the release added.
Design and security features, such as watermarks, two points for visually impaired, microprints etc will remain unchanged in the new notes, it mentioned.
The existing Taka 50 notes will remain valid alongside the new notes.
