Cops nab two for ‘attacking journalists’ in Chittagong

Police arrested two people on charge of carrying out attack on two journalists in Jamalkhan area of Chittagong city early Wednesday.

Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) President also Bureau Chief of Bangladesh Pratidin, Riaz Haider Chowdhury and Joint Secretary, Swarup Bhattacharya came under the attack of muggers in the area around 1:00 am, while they were returning home after visiting ill journalist at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, according to sources.  

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, Jashim Uddin said muggers snatched away their mobile phones after beating the duo.

Following the incident, the victims filed a case with Kotwali police station.

Meanwhile, police arrested two suspected muggers, Kaisar Hamid and Sakhawat Hossain in connection with the incident, according to local media reports.
