Ctg slum fire kills mentally disabled man

A mentally disabled man was burnt to death inside his house in a slum fire at Chandgaon of the port city on Sunday.

The victim Ahatul Islam, 32, was tied up inside his house in Shomsherpara area when the fire engulfed the entire slum around 10 am, said dwellers of the slum.

Eight units of fire fighter from Agrabad and Kalurghat stations rushed there and brought the flames under control around 11:00am after around an hour of frantic effort, said Deputy Assistant Director Jasim Uddin of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Later, fire fighters recovered the victim's body from the house, reports UNB.

Locals, however, said two more people were still missing till filing of this report around 12:50 pm.
