DSE, CSE creep higher amid political tensions

The prices of most of the shares on bourses witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading on Thursday as investors are active on sector-wise issues.

Following the previous day’s flat movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend with rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 8.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 25 points at 10:45am when the report was filed.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX rose more than 11 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 39 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 11.25 points or 0.20 per cent to stand 5,297 points at 11:00am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also advanced 2.78 points to reach at 1,863 points till then. The DSE Shariah Index also gained 3.56 points to stand at 1,226 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1.42 billion on DSE when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Advent Pharma was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 196 million changing hands, closely followed by Indo-Bangla Pharma, Queen South Textile, Kattali textile and United Power.

Of the issues traded till then, 134 advanced, 72 declined and 51 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

The port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE), also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-gaining 39 points to stand at 16,236 points, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also rose 24 points to stand at 9,844 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 47 gained, 18 declined and 11 issues remained unchanged with Tk 42 million in turnover.
