Elderly man, granddaughter found dead in Cox’s Bazar

An elderly man and his granddaughter, who went missing on Wednesday, were found dead in a fish enclosure along the Naf River in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Yusuf Ali, 75, and his granddaughter Rozina Akter, 10, daughter of Abdul Malek of the upazila.

Spotting the floating bodies of Yusuf and Rozina at Hoaikhan Unsiprang Jhimongkhali along the river, local people informed police about it in the morning, said Pronoy Chakma, Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).

Later, a special team of police from Huaikang police camp recovered the bodies with the help of border guards at around 8:30 am, UNB reports.

Yusuf along with Rozina went to the area with their cattle and they remained missing since then, the UNO said.

It is not still clear how the tragic incident happened.
