Five die in road accidents in Tangail, Shariatpur

Five people were killed in road crashes that took place in Tangail and Shariatpur districts on Friday.

Among them, three ill-fated were killed when an unknown vehicle rammed a CNG run auto-rikshaw at Kalihati upazila’s Hatia in Tangail.

The other two dead were a couple who were killed after a speeding truck ran over their motorcycle on Shariatpur-Madaripur highway at Kashipur in sadar upazila of Shariatpur.

Auto-rikshaw driver Sabur Mia, 35, and two other unknown people have lost their life in Tangail accident.

According to Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, the accident took place at around 6:00 am when the Northern district-bound vehicle smashed the CNG run auto-rickshaw, leaving its driver dead on the spot and two passengers injured.

The injured died when they were taken to Tangail General Hospital, UNB reported.

Shariatpur accident has left Mithun Mondol, 30, and his wife Nandi Rani, 25, dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Palang Model Police Station Moniruzzaman said, the speeding truck ran over the motorbike at around 10:00 am. The couple were killed immediately.

Police seized the bus but the driver managed to flee the scene. A case was filed with the police station.
