Full transparency of Rohingya funds demanded

The active participation of the locals in the planning and implementation of the Rohingya response is essential to make it sustainable. In addition, Local government institutions and local NGOs should take lead in implementing the Rohingya programme at the field level, since it will reduce the operating cost and the Rohingyas can get more direct assistance.

The speakers said these at a webinar titled “Rohingya Response Plan 2021, Is It Going Beyond or A Business As Usual: Time to Think Future: Localization and Democratic Ownership” organised by Cox's Bazar CSO-NGO Forum, according to a release.

The seminar was moderated by Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and Abu Morshed Chowdhury, co-chairs of the forum of 50 local and national NGOs working in Cox’s Bazar.

 Ashik Ullah Rafiq, member of parliament (Cox’s Bazar- 2) was the chief guest of the event, while Helaluddin Ahmad, senior secretary– Local government division and coordinator for Covid 19 related health management and other government activities in Cox's Bazar district were the special guest.

Md Mamunur Rashid, deputy commissioner of Cox’s Bazar district, Advocate Sirajul Mostafa, religious affairs secretary, Central Committee, Awami League, Advocate Faridul Islam, president, Awami League, Cox's Bazar district,  Hamidul Haque Chowdhury, chairman of Upazila Parishad Ukhiya, chairmen and members of local union parishads, representatives of NGOs-INGOs, and experts participated at the webinar.
