Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud today said the government has stabilised the prices of commodities facing all hurdles and the standard of life of people remains normal.

“The situations which were created across the globe due to the Russian-Ukraine war, we couldn’t let the same situation happen in the country (Bangladesh) under the prudent leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The people who criticised unnecessarily, they do not look at the global situation,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while addressing an iftar mahfil at a hotel in the city organised by Ranguniya Samity-Dhaka, reports BSS.

Hasan said, “The whole world becomes unstable due to the Russia-Ukraine war and commodities prices are also volatile everywhere. Prices of essentials have increased by 23 per cent in the United Kingdom while the price of edible oil has increased 70 per cent in all of Europe, and the price of energy has increased 50 per cent”

He said prices of gas and fuel of vehicles have increased 40 per cent in the USA.

“For these, the prices of all food products have also increased across the globe,” said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

But, he said, the costs of transport and power have not increased in the country due to the Russia-Ukraine war. And it was possible only for the far-sighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.
