Govt lowers rawhide price for sacrificial animals

The government has lowered the price of rawhide and skin of sacrificial animals to Tk 35-40 per square foot (sft) (salted) in the capital during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Last year, the price of rawhide and skin was Tk 45-50 per square foot (sft) in the city.

On the other hand, the rate has been fixed at Tk 28-32 per sft outside the capital, which was Tk 35-40 per sft last year.

Goat skin (salted) will sell at Tk 13-15 per sft across the country while she-goat's skin at Tk 10-12 per sq ft.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made the announcement on the latest rates of rawhides of cows, goats and baqri (female goats) on Sunday after conducting a meeting with the stakeholders, including tanners and traders.

He said, “We will consider allowing the export of rawhide and wet blue if it is needed.
