Huawei’s finishes network tests for 5G chipsets

China's official platform to promote 5G research - IMT-2020 5G promotion group, an organisation affiliated with the country's top industry regulator has finished all network tests on Huawei's 5G Balong 5000 chipset, according to the IMT-2020 (5G) summit held in Beijing on Wednesday.

Balong 5000 chipset, produced by HiSilicon under Huawei has already passed the network tests both indoors and outdoors. The chipset is capable of operating in both non-standalone (NSA) 5G network environment and also, standalone (SA) network environment.

The promotion group is currently running performance tests on a series of 5G terminal products, including four 5G terminal chips and six different 5G network systems. The tests include the connection success rate, latency and long term operation stability in NSA and SA environments.

In its coming step, the promotion group will complete the technical regulations on the 5G millimetre wave and the regulation system for the chips, terminal products, and vehicles equipments in the industrial chain of the Internet of Vehicle the report said. 

IMT-2020 5G promotion group is jointly established by three ministries in China, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's top economic planner, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
