A mobile court in Khulna on Saturday sentenced a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to one-year jail for teasing a female SSC examinee at Chuknagar in Dumuria upazila.
The mobile court led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Shahnaz Begum handed down the verdict at Chuknagar Dibbyapalli Secondary School compound in the noon, said Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station.
The convicted BCL leader Ahmed Rony, 26, is the organising secretary of Chuknagar Degree College unit and son of Fazlur Rahman Mollah of Mothbaria village, reports UNB.
Atlia Union Parishad Chairman Protap Kumar Roy said Rony used to disturb the girl on her way to the school.
