The Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) was shut down for an indefinite period on Saturday after a clash between two groups of students over a football match.

“The residential students have been ordered to vacate the halls,” said Registrar GM Shahidul Alam.

Male students have been given until 5pm to vacate residential halls. Female students will have to leave their hall within 10am Sunday, UNB reported quoting the registrar.

Students clashed over a football match between Amar Ekushey Hall and Fazlul Haque Hall on Friday afternoon.

Police were deployed on the campus at night, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khanjahan Ali Police Station.
