Maritime ports have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three (R) three as the active monsoon deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining areas.

The 24- hour bulletin, issued by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Tuesday, said light to heavy rainfall is likely to occur in eight divisions across the country.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna & Dhaka divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country, the bulletin stated.

The low over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area now lies over Northwest Jharkhand and adjoining area, the met offices said, adding that the axis of monsoon trough runs through Utter Pradesh, Bihar, centre of the low thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay, as per the 24-hour forecast.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it further stated.
