West Indies made a solid start against Bangladesh on the opening day of the second game of the two-match Bangabandhu Test series in Dhaka on Thursday.

Blending caution with aggression, the visitors reached 84 for the loss of one wicket in 29 overs at lunch at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. West Indies had won the toss and opted to bat first.

Kraigg Brathwaite and Sheyne Moseley were batting on 39 and six, respectively, going into the lunch break. The visitors lost the wicket of John Campbell to Taijul Islam, reports UNB.

While Bangladeshi bowlers were struggling to get wickets, West Indies batsmen played with comfort.

Bangladesh have made three changes to their playing XI for this Test match. Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithu and Abu Jayed Rahi came in to replace Shadman Islam, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman.

On the contrary, West Indies have made only one change to their playing XI -- they brought in Alzarri Joseph for Kemar Roach.

In the first game of the series, Bangladesh lost by three wickets as Kyle Mayers, the West Indian debutant hit a record-breaking double-ton in Chattogram.

On the last day of the first Test, Bangladesh needed to defend 285 runs to draw the game or bag seven wickets for a win, but they had failed to do so.
