As the third Bangladeshi batsman after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, wicketkeeper cum right handed batsman Mushfiqur Rahim completed 6000 runs in ODIs.

He needed just eight runs in the 2nd match of three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka to complete 6000, reports UNB.

Mushfiqur came in to bat after the dismissal of Tamim Iqbal and touched the lank-mark of 6000 runs in 201 innings of 215 matches featuring seven centuries and 37 half-centuries.

The talented batsman started his career in 2006 against Zimbabwe. He did not get a chance to bat in his first two ODIs. He just had two fifties in his first 50 ODI innings.

However, over the years, he became one of the most important parts of Bangladesh’s limited-overs set-up.

Mushfiqur took 201 innings to complete 6000 runs, Tamim was the faster to touch the milestone playing only 175 innings while Shakib needed 190 innings.

In the early stage of his career, Mushfiqur used to bat at the lower order. But, by the time going, Mushfiqur earned the belief of the team management to make him bat at the middle of the order.

Along with scoring 6000 runs in ODIs, Mushfiqur also struck more 4000 runs in Test cricket and more than 1000 runs in T20Is.
