Myanmar upgrades boarder fence with Bangladesh

The Union Government of Myanmar will provide K20 billion for fencing along the Myanmar-Bangladesh border.
It has taken as a first phase to quickly implement the project.

The Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar has allocated K 190 billion that was made from 2009-2010 to 2017-2018 financial years.

The Ministry has submitted the work of repairing the border fence to the office of directorate of military engineering to carry out the work.

The border fences were damaged during the forced out incident of Rohingya Muslim community in Rakhine State bordering Bangladesh.

yanmar forces had brutally driven out over 6, 55000 Rohingya from northern Rakhine state to Bangladesh since August this year.

The State Counsellor’s Office of the country on September 18 made a statement on measures carried out for fencing along the Myanmar-Bangladesh border.

In 2017-2018 Financial Years, more than K6 billion was permitted for upgrading of fences. Another K2 billion has been allocated to use in the border fencing work, Philippine Daily Inquirer said.

After completion, the border fence will be 141.378 miles. The area needed to build fence is about 39.217 mile.
The distance of Myanmar-Bangladesh (land contact) is 126.68 mile while water covers 39.82 miles of border.
