The health condition of General Secretary of the ruling Awami League and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader improved on Wednesday, confirmed his physicians.

Professor Dr Sharfuddin, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and chief of the 10-member medical team formed to treat Quader, said, "The physical condition of Obaidul Quader is comparatively better than Tuesday".

"His blood pressure and oxygen saturation are also normal," he said.

But, Quader will have to stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 2-3 days, the VC said, adding: "Quader is now out of danger".

The ruling party leader also has sought doa to the countrymen for his early recovery, Sharfuddin quoted Quader as saying.

"It is not now necessary to take him [Quader] abroad for his treatment. All kinds of essential treatment are possible here," he added.

After feeling sick on Tuesday morning, Obaidul Quader was admitted to the BSMMU for a regular check-up.

Later, the hospital formed a ten-member medical board for his treatment.
