A Sherpur court Thursday sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment for raping a teenage girl after abduction at Akhrapara village in Nalitabari upazila in the district.
The court also sentenced Parvez Islam alias Khokon, 24, son of Harez Ali of Bankura village in Nalitabari upazila, to another 14 years jail for abducting the girl, reports UNB.
Additional District and Sessions Judges Court Judge, Md Mosleh Uddin also fined Parvez Islam, who is on the run, Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months more imprisonment.
According to the case statement, on November 12, 2015, the convict kidnapped the girl from Akhrapara village in Nalitabari upazila and raped her keeping her hostage at different places of Pabna district for months.
Later, police rescued the victim on July 11,2016 after her father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
