Opposition Chief Whip Tajul Islam Chowdhury no more

Tajul Islam Chowdhury, chief whip of the opposition in parliament and Jatiya Party presidium member died in a city hospital on Monday night. He was 73.

A Jatiya Party press release said he breathed his last at United Hospital in the city around 11:45 pm. He had been suffering from kidney and heart-related complications.

His first Namaz-E-Janaza will be held at the South Plaza of parliament at 11 am on Tuesday, said Khondaklar Deloar Jalali, Deputy Press Secretary of JP Chairman HM Ershad.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death, said a UNB report.

The veteran politician was elected MP seven times from the Kurigram-2 constituency, and also served a stint as Land Minister.
