A Pakistan court has ordered to arrest former President Pervez Musharraf in a sedition case.

The court also asked Pakistan government on Thursday to take steps to extradite him from Dubai.

A three-member bench headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi held its first hearing in the case in eight months.

During the hearing, the interior ministry submitted in the court a report on Musharraf's properties, stating four of the seven properties are owned by the former president.

The interior ministry was also asked to attach Musharraf’s properties in the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.

According to Pakistan's media, the hearing was adjourned until March 21.

The special bench was formed in 2013 to try Musharraf for the state of emergency that he had imposed in the country in November 2007, when he was president.

Several judges were confined to house arrest or sacked after the state of emergency was imposed.

The former Army chief was indicted in March 2014 on treason charges.

The court declared him a proclaimed absconder in May 2016, two months after he left the country for Dubai.

Musharraf is also an accused in the assassination case of ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, for which a special anti-terrorism court declared him an absconder in August 2017.
