Police, in special drives arrested 72 suspects including five drug pedlars from eight upazilas of Satkhira district in last 12-hour ending at 8:00am Monday morning.
Police also recovered 1,042 pieces of yaba tablets, 100 grams of marijuana and 198 bottles of phensedyl syrup during the drives.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district, reports BSS.
During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 24 suspects including two drug traders along with 42 pieces of yaba tablets and 18 bottles of phensedyl syrup, Kalaroa Thana police arrested 10 people including two drug traders along with 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets, Tala Thana police arrested five, Kaliganj Thana police arrested six, Shyamnagar Thana police arrested nine, Assasuni Thana police arrested eight people including a drug trader along with 100 grams of cannabis and 180 bottles of phensedyl syrup, Patkelghata Thana police arrested seven and Debhata police arrested three.
The arrestees are accused in several cases, including charges of subversive activities, filed with different police stations in the district.
They were all sent to jail.
