Police arrest manager of local NGO for embezzling Tk 20 million

Police arrested the manager of a local NGO named RAK in connection with a case filed for embezzling Tk 20 million (2 crore) after conning 800 members of the NGO, from Paikgachcha upazila in Khulna district.

Police arrested Barun Biswas, son of Gourapada Biswas of Noakati village in the upazila and also the manager of the NGO from his residence on Saturday, said Shafi Ezaz.

According to police statement, Barun opened an NGO named RAK in 2011 and appointed many workers in his organisation.

He also used his workers to collect a handsome amount of money from general members of the organisation after alluring them of giving a good profit, reports UNB.

When Barun saw that his organisation has a fund of Tk 20 million, he embezzled the money and went into hiding six months ago.

Recently, a member of the NGO came to know that Barun returned his home. Later, he informed the matter to police, said the OC.

Sazeda Begum, a member of the NGO filed a case with Paikgachcha Police Station against Barun.
