A Manikganj court on Monday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for raping a schoolgirl at Chala village of Harirampur Upazila in 2012.
The convict was identified as Md Mehedi Hasan, son of Nasir Uddin of Chala village of the upazila.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mohammad Ali Hossain passed the order and fined the convict Tk 50,000.
According to case statement, Mehedi used to stalk the victim on her way to school. On November 24, 2012, some miscreants abducted the girl and took her to a house in Mohakhali area in the capital where Mehedi raped the victim, reports UNB.
