Sudden power outage hits Dhaka airport

A sudden power cut has 'partially' hit the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka city since this morning.

With this, the airport went without water and air-conditioning, leaving travellers inside in an unbearable situation.

A drive against illegal connections by the Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) at a nearby slum caused this power outage, local media reported, citing officials involved in the drive.

Group Captain Abdullah Al Farooq, director of Shahjalal airport, also said the same about the power disruption, terming it 'partial'.

However, no flight has been affected so far, he said.

Citing the DESCO authorities, the director said it will take at least a few hours to restore the power supply there completely.
