Ten most-traded cos grab one-fourth turnover

Four banks among top turnover chart

Ten most-traded companies grabbed one-fourth turnover of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Tuesday while Square Pharmaceuticals topped the chart for the second day.

Four banks --- BRAC Bank, Premier Bank, First Security Islami Bank and Uttara Bank -- featured in the day's top turnover list.

Square Pharmaceuticals continued to top the turnover chart as investors remained active on its shares amid post-Eid expectations.

According to statistics from the DSE, with 498,747 shares of Square Pharma were traded on the day, generating a turnover of Tk 124 million, which was 3.08 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 4.03 billion on Tuesday which was Tk 3.51 billion in the day before.

The Square Pharma, which was listed on the DSE in 1995, disbursed 36 per cent cash and 7.0 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.

The company's share price closed at Tk 251.90 on Tuesday, soaring 2.48 per cent over the previous day.

The company's share traded between Tk 244.90 and Tk 299 in the last one year.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 7.89 billion, authorised capital is Tk 10 billion and the total number of securities is 789 million.

The sponsor-directors own 34.43 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 9.95 per cent, foreign investors 20.32 per cent and the general public 35.30 per cent as of April 30, 2019.

United Power which made debut Monday followed next, with shares worth Tk 123 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 334.10, advancing 2.95 per cent over the previous day.

BRAC Bank clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 112 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 3.28 per cent to close at Tk 62.90 each.

Premier Bank emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 111 million changing hands. The bank's share closed at Tk 12.50 each, gaining 0.80 per cent.

BATBC notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 106 million changing hands. The multinational company's share price soared 5.76 per cent to close at Tk 1,331.30 each.

The turnover of Global Insurance was Tk 96 million. The company's share closed at Tk 19.80 each, jumping 11.86 per cent over the previous day.

First Security Islami Bank featured a turnover of Tk 89 million. The bank's share price advanced 3.66 per cent to close at Tk 11.30 each.

National Life Insurance featured a turnover of nearly Tk 89 million. The company's share closed at Tk 211.10 each, losing 3.16 per cent over the previous day.

The turnover of Uttara Bank was Tk 88 million. The bank's share price rose 2.51 per cent to close at Tk 28.50 each.

Fortune Shoes also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 73 million changing hands. The company's share price shed 2.32 per cent to close at Tk 359 each.
