Traffic turns from bad to worse before Eid

DURING the holy month of Ramadan the city dwellers face serious traffic gridlock particularly in late afternoon when they rush towards home for iftar. We see the commuters getting locked in a traffic jam and waiting for an unusually long time. City life comes to a standstill. The situation is further aggravated when supporters of political parties or workers of organisations block the road to voice their protests. As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end and Eid-ul-Fitr draws nearer traffic congestion in the city goes from bad to worse. With disbursement of pay and bonus by both government and private offices, rush of people and traffic further intensifies and makes the situation worse. People throng around shopping malls to complete their Eid purchase and many of these shopping malls do not have adequate parking space, so we see cars being parked on the road near the malls making it narrower. We face the same situation during Ramadan and before Eid every year. In this way traffic jams take away a big chunk of our working time and harms the economy as we collectively losing valuable working hours due to traffic gridlock. It is therefore imperative that we must find out ways and means to overcome the situation. At the moment traffic congestion is our number one problem and we must restore discipline in our city traffic and make the city a  liveable place for us and our future generation.
