National Debate Tournament named "DNC CUDS International Debate Fest 2021" organised by Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS), University of Chittagong came to a close on December 04, 2021. The flagship event of CUDS started on December 03, 2021, with 28 teams and 84 debaters participating in the debate fest from all the renowned universities around the country. The theme for this year's debate fest was 'Battle against Narcotics'.
The first day of the tournament took place at the University of Chittagong. Debaters took part in five preliminary rounds on December 03, on the first day of the debate fest. The institutions that competed in the finals were the University of Chittagong and Jahangirnagar University. The championship went to the University of Chittagong consisting of Md Hasib Khan, Arjon Tripura and Nakib Bin Islam. And the best speaker of the final was Md Hasib Khan. The runner-up team was Jahangirnagar University Debate Organization (JUDO) consisting of Nur Hossain Bindu, Farhan Anjum, and Prapti Taposhi. The best speaker of the tournament was Ahnaf Shahriar Hossain from the Bangladesh University of Textiles and Nakib Bin Islam from the University of Chittagong.
Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, additional divisional commissioner (Development), Chittagong attended the tournament as the chief guest. He said, "Debate has always kept its astonishing role in society." He also described how the debate culture can form a strong republic administration. Muzibur Rahman Patwari, additional director, Narcotics Department, Chittagong, was also present as a special guest at the tournament thanking CUDS for organising the tournament and thus spreading awareness among the youth.
Professor ABM Abu Noman, dean, Department of Law, University of Chittagong, Moderator of CUDS was the chairman of the function. He highly praised the organising committee for their tremendous work. He said, "It has been a great phenomenon to watch the great development on the circuit. It’s great to watch the great debate battle between two finalists Team JUDO and Team CUDS and I am amazed." He also said, "I am surprised to observe the depth of knowledge from the participants."
President of CUDS Abdullah Al Asad was the convener of the debate fest. Co-conveners were its joint secretary Md Hasib Khan, and event and logistics secretary Arjon Tripura.
