Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam Sunday inaugurated an exhibition on 3.0 million plastic bottles in the city aiming to highlight about the harmful impact of plastic to the environment.
BD Clean, a voluntary organisation, collected the plastic bottle as waste and exhibited them at TNT playground at the city’s Banani area.
BD Clean has an inspiring vision of cleaning up the streets in the country. The youth voluntary organisation inspires to turn Bangladesh into a cleaner and healthier nation.
It is Bangladesh's biggest mass-action environmental campaign and was first launched in 2016.
Expressing concern over the excessive plastic pollution harming to environment at the inauguration, the mayor said the plastic is eroding soil fertility and creating greenhouse effect as well as destroying marine life and biodiversity.
The DNCC mayor Atiqul urged all to keep the city clean and not to throw waste and garbage everywhere to protect environment.
