Ex-Health Minister Nasim tests positive for coronavirus

Former Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) shortly after he was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka on Monday.

“My father is COVID-19 positive and he is under the supervision of medicine expert Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed,” said Nasim’s son Tanvir Shakil.

The samples were collected for coronavirus test after he was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli area of the capital, Tanvir added.

A stalwart of the ruling party, in his present role he has been acting as the convener for the 14-party ruling alliance built around the heft of AL, reports UNB.  

Meanwhile, health authorities confirmed the detection of 2,381 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 49,534.

Twenty-two more people died from coronavirus, taking the death tally to 672.
