The BNP has briefed foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka about country’s latest political situation following the jailing its chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The briefing was held at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office on Tuesday afternoon .
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders received the diplomats of 15 foreign countries.
The meeting was started around 4:15pm and continued for over an hour.
Sources said, the main issue of the briefing was Khaleda’s conviction in a graft case and denying her division in jail.
On February 8, a special court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
A local news agency said, BNP earlier briefed diplomats on January 30.
